Australians have invented some processes and devices that have significantly contributed the well being of mankind.  Some of our inventions have significantly contributed to the Australian economy as the pictures on the pages of this website show.
Developing and protecting an invention can be a protracted and expensive process, which few individual inventors can afford and even fewer have the skills to develop on their own. Nevertheless, there are some potentially valuable inventions which will benefit mankind and the Australian economy in the future.
These people need guidance in the early stages, education and encouragement.  The Inventors Associations in our capital cities provide this kind of advice are encouragement to those who are able to attend meetings.  This website is an attempt to extend the advice and encouragement to the wider community – the people who live in rural and regional areas and those in the remote parts of our large sprawling cities
The Inventors Association of Australia (Federal) Inc (IAA(Fed)) is a coordinating body for the Inventors Associations in New south Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia *.
The goals of the IAA Fed are to increase the public appreciation of the Australian inventions in meeting world needs; to encourage interest in inventions and generate enthusiasm for a creative future.
The main function of the association is to improve our services to inventors and improve our profile in the community.  To function as intended, our state associations need to attract new members, and to retain experienced members to share their invaluable experience with novice inventors.  To achieve these aims we have three new initiatives:
 this Website,
 our Code of Ethics and Corporate members class of membership, and
 the “Invented in Australia” logo scheme.
This website was developed with funds from a legacy of a successful West Australian inventor, Roy Welton Flood.  Without his contribution this project would not have been possible. This website is our primary vehicle for keeping people informed throughout the year. We will continue to add events to the activities calendar as they are developed.
To develop these initiatives to their full potential, we need close cooperation between all state associations, on-going legal guidance and scrutiny.  To finance these activities and we are seeking sponsorship from companies and government departments interested in ensuring Australia’s place in the world as a imaginative and inventive nation.
We invite you to become a general sponsor.  We are seeking five sponsors for a modest budget in 2011 of $25 000 to cover the legal scrutiny costs, promotional costs, and one inter-association meeting during the year.  Sponsors will be given credit on the website, and their logos placed on the front page.
The association may mount exhibitions and other promotions during the year requiring  major sponsors.  These events will carry naming rights.
Please feel free to contact your local state president to discuss how you can participate in sponsorship of State and Federal Association initiatives.
* Note The Inventors Association in Victoria was a founding member of the IAA(Fed) but has withdrawn to maintain their independence.  The members of the IAA(Fed) would welcome the Victorians back into the IAA(Fed) association whenever they feel comfortable with what we are trying to achieve.

We are proud of our Australian Inventors who have developed processes and devices that have significantly contributed to the well being of mankind. We aim to assist all inspired inventors to fulfill their dreams and to follow their predecessors in developing inventions that have significantly contributed to the Australian economy. The pictures of Australian Inventions featured on the pages of this website give just a glimpse of what this nation can achieve.

Developing and protecting an invention can be a protracted and expensive process, which many individual inventors cannot afford. Even fewer have the skills to develop on their own. Nevertheless, coming from individuals, we see many valuable ideas and inventions which will benefit mankind and the Australian economy in the future.
